Home Blog Be My Eyes and Amtrak Expand Live Visual Support to Over 50 Stations Nationwide Following Successful Pilot
February 17, 2026
Expansion includes some of the largest and busiest train stations in the U.S., marking a major step forward for accessible rail travel
17th February 2026 – Be My Eyes and Amtrak are expanding their partnership to bring on-demand visual support to passengers who are blind or low-vision. The Amtrak service on Be My Eyes Service Directory is now available at 50 Amtrak stations across the United States, including major hubs such as Chicago Union Station, Los Angeles Union Station, Denver Union Station, New York’s Moynihan Train Hall, and Washington DC Union Station.
Launched in August, the pilot program brought Be My Eyes’ live visual assistance to 17 of Amtrak’s busiest stations in the Northeast Corridor. The response was clear: passengers used the service to travel with greater confidence and independence, and Amtrak saw first-hand how real-time visual support could reduce stress and remove barriers in complex, fast-moving environments.
That success has now paved the way for nationwide growth.
Train stations can be overwhelming for anyone, and even more so for blind and low vision travelers. Constant announcements, last-minute track changes, crowded platforms, and sprawling layouts can quickly turn a journey into a challenge.
Through Service Directory on the Be My Eyes app, passengers can connect instantly with trained visual agents at Amtrak who provide real-time assistance via secure video. From reading departure boards and signage to navigating unfamiliar station layouts or finding the right platform, assistance is always just a tap away. With this expansion, Amtrak is bringing that support to stations across multiple regions of the U.S., including some of the largest and busiest stations in the country, underscoring a strong commitment to accessibility.
With this expansion, live visual support via Be My Eyes is now available at the following 50 Amtrak stations across the United States:Albany-Rensselaer, NY; Alexandria, VA (ALX); Austin, TX; Bakersfield, CA; Baltimore, MD (BAL); Boston, MA – Back Bay (BBY); Boston, MA – South Station (BOS); Buffalo (Exchange Street Station), NY; BWI Marshall Airport, MD (BWI); Charlotte, NC; Chicago (Union Station), IL; Denver (Union Station), CO; Emeryville, CA; Eugene (Amtrak), OR; Fredericksburg, VA; Fresno, CA; Greensboro, NC; Harrisburg, PA; Indianapolis, IN; Kansas City (Union Station), MO; Los Angeles, CA; Martinez, CA; Metropark, NJ (MET); Milwaukee (Downtown), WI; Moynihan Train Hall + NY Penn Station (NYP); New Carrollton, MD; New Haven, CT (NHV); Newark, NJ – Penn Station (NWK); Oakland (Jack London Square), CA; Philadelphia, PA (PHL); Pittsburgh (Union Station), PA; Portland (Union Station), OR; Providence, RI (PVD); Raleigh, NC; Richmond, VA – Staples Mill Road (RVR); Rochester (Louise M. “For passengers who are blind or with low vision, accessibility isn’t a ‘nice to have’ — it’s what makes independent travel possible,” said Mike Buckley, CEO of Be My Eyes. “Seeing this partnership grow from a pilot into a nationwide expansion, including some of the largest stations in the U.S., is incredibly meaningful. It shows what’s possible when accessibility is built into the travel experience from the start.”
The service remains completely free for passengers and requires only a smartphone and the Be My Eyes app (available on iOS and Android). Travelers can find Amtrak listed under the Travel & Transportation category in the Be My Eyes Service Directory.
Support is delivered by trained agents who understand both accessibility needs and the realities of navigating busy transportation hubs, ensuring consistent, professional, and reliable assistance.
As Be My Eyes and Amtrak continue working together, feedback from passengers will help guide future improvements and expansions, ensuring the service continues to meet real-world needs.
