Zain Empowers Employees Across the Middle East to Support the Blind Community Through Purpose-Driven Volunteering with Be My Eyes In a first-of-its-kind initiative, Zain transformed corporate volunteering into a region-wide accessibility movement, enabling employees to provide real-time visual support for blind and low-vision users. How it Started In July 2024, Zain became the first company in the Middle East region to partner with Be My Eyes, a global app that connects people who are blind or have low vision with volunteers and companies worldwide through live video and artificial intelligence. In this partnership, Zain employees volunteer during dedicated Volunteering Events as part of Be My Eyes’ Corporate Volunteering Plan, offering real-time assistance with everyday tasks. This vision is championed by Mr. Bader Al-Kharafi, Zain’s Vice Chairman and Group CEO, whose leadership ensures that no one is left behind. The Be My Eyes partnership supports two pillars of Zain’s “4WARD” corporate strategy. Customer Delight The goal is to exceed customer expectations by placing them at the heart of everything Zain does, which is achieved by delivering superior fixed and mobile connectivity experiences. This ultimately enhances Zain’s position as a provider of choice. Purpose in Action For Purpose in Action, the focus is on ensuring Zain actions align with meaningful impact and responsibility through various initiatives like Sustainability, Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and other ESG programs that lead to systemic change. Purpose in Action From the start, this initiative was a full-scale rollout across all Zain markets – Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Sudan, South Sudan, and Oman – bringing accessibility support to users across the Middle East. Zainers were encouraged to volunteer in their preferred language, strengthening Arabic and English support on the platform. Eight training sessions prepared employees to provide effective, real-time assistance. To broaden awareness, Zain launched a social media campaign to its 50+ million followers, highlighting the importance of accessibility and inclusive technology. By The Numbers Since its launch in July 2024, the partnership between Zain and Be My Eyes has shown significant impact across the region, with engagement in every market where Zain operates, underscoring the program’s truly regional scale. 80+ Real-time calls Answered each volunteering session 8 Market Addressed 96% Satisfaction rate from both users and volunteers As a Zain customer, being able to reach the company through Be My Eyes is a big step forward.
