What’s our 10 Favorite Podcasts?

In celebration of the Be My Eyes Podcast season 2, and the launch of our new accessibility podcast, 13 Letters, we wanted to share a list of our favorite podcast dealing with blindness and vision impairment.

At Be My Eyes, we absolutely love podcasts. So much that last year, we actually launched our own, which has just returned for season 2. We’ve also expanded our podcast family with the addition of the accessibility podcast 13 Letters.

There are so many amazing podcasts out there dealing with everything blindness related, and we’ve collected our favorites! What is your favorite podcast?

Blind Abilities

The Blind Abilities Podcast was originally created to help blind students transition into college, but has since evolved into a podcast concerned with everything blindness related. They work from the belief that: “When we share what we see through each other’s eyes, we can then bridge the Gap between the limited expectations and the realities of Blind Abilities.”

RNIB Connect Radio

The RNIB, the national blind organisation in the UK, has their own radio station RNIB Connect Radio. You can also listen to their radio shows as podcasts. With shows spanding from Tech Talk and Connect to Sport, Conversations and Read On, there’s something for everyone, whether you’re interested in assistive technology, books or personal stories.

Blind Bargains

The Blind Bargains Podcast, also known as the BBQast, brings you the biggest names, the latest news, technology demonstrations and interviews with industry experts.

Kelly and Company

Accessible Media Inc’s daily afternoon program, Kelly and Company, is also available as a podcast. Tune in for interviews and discussions about art, entertainment, and lifestyle topics that affect the blind and low-vision community.

In Touch

Produced by BBC Radio 4, In Touch brings you all about being visually impaired. Tune in weekly for news, views and information for people who are blind or partially sighted.

EBU Access Cast

The European Blind Union has their own monthly podcast called EBU Access Cast. In this monthly podcast, they discuss technological accessibility innovations and products.

If you’re an Apple user, you might enjoy the AppleVis Podcast. The podcast covers a wide range of topics on usage of Apple products as a blind or low-vision individual.

The Tommy Edison Experience

Tommy Edison, also known as the Blind Film Critic, has been blind since birth. He tackles topics about blindness with humor and takes on challenges testing his other senses.

The Be My Eyes Podcast

Of course we couldn’t wrap up this list without including our very own Be My Eyes Podcast. Our bi-weekly podcast is about blindness, sight and the sometimes blurry in between. We just expanded our podcast family with 13 Letters. 13 Letters is a weekly accessibility podcast where we talk to industry leaders about their work and the importance of accessibility.
