Celebrating a decade of impact with one of Apple’s highest distinctions

Los Angeles, December 4, 2025 –  Be My Eyes, the world’s leading Customer Accessibility Management platform for people who are blind or have low vision, is proud to announce that it has been named the winner of the 2025 Apple App Store Award in the Cultural Impact category, one of only 12 honores selected from more than 2 million apps worldwide.

Each year, the App Store Awards recognize the most innovative and impactful apps, along with the developers who create them. With millions of apps available globally, Apple shortlists only 45 finalists across all categories. To be recognized among them and to win in Cultural Impact is a profound honor.

Apple describes Cultural Impact winners as apps that “foster greater understanding and give users more ways to interact with their communities.” This mission has guided Be My Eyes from day one, shaping every aspect of the organization’s work.

Beyond its core app connecting blind and low-vision users with volunteers, Be My Eyes continues to expand its accessibility offerings. Be My AI provides instant, AI-powered assistance for everyday tasks, while the Service Directory helps users easily find and access customer service at hundreds of companies worldwide including Google, Microsoft, Hilton, P&G and more.

The company’s collaboration with Meta AI Glasses brings hands-free, real-time visual support to users, blending cutting-edge technology with Be My Eyes’ community-driven mission. Together, these solutions extend the impact of Be My Eyes, making accessibility more seamless, immediate, and empowering than ever.

The award is also a meaningful recognition of founder Hans Jørgen Wiberg, whose vision to build a simple tool connecting blind and low-vision individuals with volunteers has grown into a global movement promoting accessibility, inclusion, and human connection.

“This is a huge award for us and we are so honored to have received it,” said Mike Buckley, CEO of Be My Eyes. “But really the thanks must go to everyone who has made this possible, our blind and low-vision community, millions of volunteers worldwide, our partners and customers, and of course the entire Be My Eyes team. Thank you.”

“When I founded Be My Eyes ten years ago on a simple idea, never did I imagine just what a global movement, and how impactful it would become,” said Hans Jørgen Wiberg, Founder of Be My Eyes. “For us to be recognized by Apple in this way is a reflection of that, but also the dedication and support of everyone involved. This award belongs to all of you who inspire us to continue making the world more accessible, inclusive, and connected together.”
