Be My Eyes and Knorr Thailand Partner to Launch AI and Human Assistance for Blind and Low-Vision Customers

Be My Eyes has partnered with Knorr Thailand to improve accessibility for blind and low-vision consumers by integrating AI-powered assistance and Accessible QR codes into Knorr’s product packaging.

The Challenge

Blind and low-vision individuals face significant challenges when trying to access essential product information, especially in grocery stores or at home. These barriers make it difficult for consumers to make informed choices about nutrition and cooking, and most assistive technologies like screen readers or braille displays are not widely available.

 

The Objective

Knorr Thailand wanted to bridge this accessibility gap using AI and QR codes on their packaging. The goal was to enable blind and low-vision consumers to easily access essential product information such as ingredients, nutritional values, and cooking instructions.

The Solution

Be My Eyes collaborated with Knorr Thailand to launch the first-ever use of Zappar’s enhanced Accessible QR (AQR) codes in Thailand. Consumers can scan these AQR codes using the Be My Eyes app, which provides audio descriptions of product details in Thai. Be My AI, the AI-driven visual assistant, reads out important information and cooking instructions to give blind and low-vision consumers greater independence and confidence.

 

In addition to AI-powered assistance, users can also connect with live agents via video calls to receive real-time help with cooking and recipes. This initiative initially covers Knorr’s six popular instant porridge flavors, with plans to expand to more product lines in the future.

Results

This partnership between Be My Eyes and Knorr Thailand has greatly enhanced the accessibility of food product information for blind and low-vision consumers. By integrating AQR codes and Be My AI, Knorr Thailand’s blind and low-vision customers now have the same access to information as sighted consumers.

Inclusive Product Access: Consumers can now independently access nutritional values, ingredients, and cooking instructions using Be My AI.
