Home Blog Be My Eyes Workplace Spotlight: Workplace Connect
Even in the most accessible workplaces, there are moments where technology alone isn’t enough.
March 6, 2026
A form won’t submit. A SaaS workflow breaks. A screen reader gets stuck in a layout that was never tested for accessibility.
For blind and low vision employees, these moments can quickly become productivity blockers.
They can also create an uncomfortable dynamic: needing to ask a sighted colleague for help, waiting for someone to be available, or losing momentum while work stalls.
That’s why Workplace Connect exists.
Workplace Connect is one of the three core components of Be My Eyes Workplace, designed to remove visual barriers across workplace tools, documents, and workflows. It provides one-click access to real-time human support, built specifically for workplace environments.
With a single click, employees can connect to a trusted colleague (or approved external support agent) through voice, with the option of screen sharing and temporary remote control when needed. This makes it possible to solve blockers quickly and keep work moving.
Workplace Connect also supports Workplace Groups, which allow administrators to define structured support networks. Groups can include trusted colleagues, internal subject matter experts, or trained external agents – ensuring employees have the right help available when they need it.
The key point is simple… Fast, practical support designed for real workplace needs.
Workplace Connect is built for the moments where tasks become blocked, especially inside modern tools and workflows.
Some real examples include:
If an internal portal has unlabeled buttons or an unclear submission process, an employee can bring in support quickly through screen sharing. Remote assistance can help complete the workflow without the employee losing time or momentum.
Many organizations rely on tools that still present major accessibility challenges. When an interface becomes a blocker, Workplace Connect allows employees to reach support instantly rather than abandoning the task or waiting for remediation.
Login flows, MFA prompts, device configuration steps, and security pop-ups can derail productivity if they aren’t accessible. Workplace Connect provides a quick way to move forward without delays or escalation.
Not every workplace barrier is a document. Sometimes the task is visual context in real time: confirming how a dashboard is laid out, checking a visual design element, or reviewing how something appears before sending it out.
Workplace Connect supports employees whether they’re in the office or working remotely. Access no longer depends on whether the “right person” happens to be sitting nearby.
Workplace Connect is built to protect what matters most to blind and low vision professionals at work. Some of the main benefits include:
Employees can keep work moving instead of waiting for someone to become available or raising a ticket.
Support is available when needed, but employees stay in control of when they ask for help and who they contact.
When something becomes inaccessible, employees have a reliable path to resolution rather than guessing or struggling alone.
Support is user-initiated, and employees decide when to share their screen and who they share it with.
Removes the stress of getting stuck mid-task, especially when deadlines, collaboration, or visibility are involved. Most importantly, Workplace Connect reduces the feeling of being “stuck” — one of the most common workplace experiences blind employees report when tools are inaccessible.
Workplace Connect helps organizations move from reactive accommodations to a practical, repeatable accessibility model that works at enterprise scale.
And, it helps businesses drive measurable outcomes, including:
Issues that might otherwise block work for hours can often be resolved in minutes.
Fewer accessibility blockers become IT tickets, manager interruptions, or repeated ad-hoc support requests.
Employees spend less time waiting and more time completing work, contributing in meetings, and staying on track.
Accessibility friction is a real reason talented employees disengage or leave. Workplace Connect helps prevent that slow erosion over time.
Workplace Groups provide structured support that scales across teams, instead of relying on informal arrangements or “who’s available.”
When employees can get support quickly and privately, accessibility becomes part of everyday work, not a special case.
Some organizations don’t have the internal capacity to provide consistent workplace support.
That’s why Be My Eyes Workplace can also include outsourced assistance delivered by trained and vetted agents through trusted partnerships with RNIB (UK) and Lighthouse Works (US). This allows organizations to extend accessibility without expanding internal support functions, while ensuring employees have reliable help when additional support is needed.
Workplace Connect ensures blind and low vision employees don’t lose time, confidence, or opportunity when something becomes inaccessible.
And for businesses, it helps turn accessibility from a reactive process into a practical, scalable part of everyday work.

Who can employees connect to through Workplace Connect? Workplace Connect is configured by your organization. Administrators can define who employees are able to connect with, including trusted colleagues, Workplace Groups, or approved external support agents, depending on your setup and policies.
Who controls when screen sharing or remote control is enabled? The employee is always in control. Screen sharing and remote control are only enabled when the user chooses to activate them, and they can be stopped at any time.
How does Workplace Connect protect sensitive business information during support sessions? Video and audio streams are encrypted in transit using TLS 1.2 or higher. Be My Eyes does not record video calls placed through Workplace Connect unless you ask us to. That means that, unless you request otherwise, no video or audio is saved once the session ends.
How is external support vetted and approved? If external support is required then it is delivered through trusted partnerships with Lighthouse Works in the US and RNIB in the UK. These partners provide trained and vetted agents who understand workplace tools, accessibility needs, and confidentiality requirements, giving organizations a reliable option when additional support is needed. This support is available as an add-on option to standard Workplace subscriptions.
