Sight Village has been a flagship event for the blind and low-vision community in the UK for over 30 years. The event draws thousands of visitors, all eager to discover the latest advancements in assistive technology, daily living aids, mobility solutions, and educational services.
Held in accessible, sensory-friendly environments, Sight Village offers attendees the rare opportunity to experience products and services firsthand. Whether it’s trying out new screen magnifiers, exploring braille equipment, or engaging in low-vision sports, Sight Village fosters a hands-on learning environment where visitors can gain confidence and independence.
Founded in 2015 by Hans Jørgen Wiberg, a visually impaired Danish craftsman, Be My Eyes was born from a simple yet powerful idea: connect people with visual impairments to sighted volunteers through live video calls to provide real-time assistance.
Since launch, we now serve almost 900,000 blind and low-vision users worldwide, supported by 9 million volunteers. Our app bridges gaps that conventional tools cannot, offering immediate help with a variety of everyday tasks – from reading labels and navigating unfamiliar surroundings to troubleshooting technology and verifying expiry dates.
At Sight Village, our team will be demonstrating how our innovative platform extends beyond personal use to transform workplaces and customer service environments.
The upcoming Sight Village event in Birmingham promises to be an inspiring gathering for anyone interested in accessibility, innovation, and community empowerment. With a diverse lineup of exhibitors, visitors can explore the latest assistive technologies and services in an open, welcoming environment.
We’d like to invite attendees to stop by our booth on Aisle 1 to experience live demonstrations, meet the team, and learn how to get involved; whether as a volunteer, user, or business partner.
