September was a busy month onboarding new local blind organizations from Denmark, Nepal and South Africa. And in October, the stream has continued with two new organizations; Blindrafelagid from Iceland and UNSS from Slovakia. Please give them a warm welcome to the Be My Eyes Community!

Blindrafelagid, Icelandic Association of the Visually Impaired, is a social force - human right orientated organization – that fights for independent, meaningful and responsible living conditions for visually impaired people and that they are secured equal rights and opportunities to responsible, active and recognized participation in all sectors of the Icelandic society. Blind and low-vision users in Iceland can connect with a Blindrafelagid representative Monday through Thursday 9am to 4pm and Friday 9am to 3pm GMT and receive assistance in Icelandic.

Únia nevidiacich a slabozrakých Slovenska (UNSS) was founded in 1990 by blind and visually impaired people to defend and promote the rights of visually impaired people in Slovakia. UNSS works to promote professional opportunities for people with a vision impairment, spread awareness to the general public and increase accessibility. Blind and low-vision individuals can also receive counseling and rehabilitation services through the organization. Users in Slovakia can connect directly with UNSS through Be My Eyes in Slovak Monday through Friday 8am to 3:30pm CET.

We’re constantly working on getting more organizations onboard Be My Eyes, so blind and low-vision users all over the world have a direct way to connect with their local organization. Do you work for an organization or should your local organization become a part of Be My Eyes? Then hurry up and fill out our Specialized Help submission form, and we’ll do our best to make it happen!
