Home Making Everyday Shopping Easier: Kerry, Tesco, and Meta AI Glasses
August 20, 2026
Kerry shares how Be My Eyes, Tesco, and Meta AI Glasses are changing the way she navigates everyday life, from shopping to festivals.
Living in Thornton-Clevelies, England, blind guide dog handler Kerry always had her hands full. Balancing her dog’s harness with positive-reinforcement rewards left no space for fumbling with a phone. After trying clumsy chest harnesses, Meta AI Glasses proved to be the perfect fix. “You just tilt your head,” Kerry laughs. “It’s a total game changer.”
Determined to maintain her independence after difficult pandemic-era store restrictions, Kerry jumped at the chance to test the Be My Eyes pilot program at her local Tesco Express. Using the app’s Service Directory, she connected directly with a trained agent who guided her step-by-step through the aisles to find her groceries. “The very fact that I could just walk in without waiting for anyone at the counter was freeing,” Kerry says. “It’s the simplest thing that people take for granted.”
Upgrading to Meta AI Glasses improved Kerry immediate, hands-free spatial awareness. Combining audio, camera capabilities, and built-in AI, the glasses act as a natural extension of her sight without blocking her ears. When her guide dog suddenly halts on a sidewalk, Kerry simply asks Meta AI what is ahead. The AI instantly identifies hazards (like a temporary triangular sign on the floor) resolving mysteries on the spot.
That hands-free freedom also transforms how Kerry experiences live theater and music. Using quick voice commands, she captures stage photos and receives real-time descriptions of lighting setups, props, and overall stage layouts before the show begins. Whether checking festival setups or enjoying a play, smart glasses give her a front-row view on her own terms.
