Meet Dany – Building a Life of Purpose with Be My Eyes

June 11, 2026

Dany Acosta wears a lot of hats. Vocational rehabilitation counselor at the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind, YouTuber, self-published author, motivational speaker, advocate, and, most recently, dad. With a tight schedule and a passion that doesn’t quit, Dany is someone who makes things happen. And Be My Eyes has been part of his toolkit every step of the way.

From Daily Tasks to Big Moments

Dany first started using Be My Eyes for the kinds of tasks that matter quietly but constantly: picking out clothes, reading menus, locating a rideshare at the curb. Small things that, when handled smoothly, free up your energy for everything else.

Over time, the use cases grew. When Dany got married, he used Be My AI to get a description of his spouse’s wedding dress, a moment he describes as complementing the experience in a way that stayed with him. He also used the volunteer network to learn how to tie a tie before the big day, getting connected with someone who had experience in bridal and tuxedo rentals. It worked out perfectly.

Buying a new home? Dany brought Be My Eyes along on a condo tour to get an unbiased read on the space. Moving in, he used it to explore a collection of vinyl records he’d received as a gift, discovering the cover art album by album.

Paying It Forward at Work

As a vocational counselor, Dany now integrates Be My Eyes and Ray-Ban Meta glasses directly into client training. One client living with limited motor function used the combination to gain independence in cooking, grocery shopping, and computer use, progress that motivated them to pursue front-desk employment.

Dany oversees three service branches at MCB: orientation and mobility, assistive technology, and rehabilitation teaching. Across all of them, the goal is the same: helping people build the confidence and skills to live and work on their own terms.

Art, Memory, and Watching His Son Grow

Before the counseling career, Dany was a graffiti artist. That visual sensibility didn’t go anywhere. Today he uses Be My AI to interpret lettering styles, color palettes, and artistic techniques, feeding a creative process that now expresses itself through poetry. His debut collection is called Blindly Painting Words of Love.

He also uses the technology to notice how friends and family change over time, and to document milestones for his one-year-old son.

His next book, Butterflies — which addresses themes of trauma and resilience — launches August 22nd in Danvers, Massachusetts, with all royalties going to support young women who’ve faced similar challenges.
