No driving, no parking, and in many cases you go straight from one city center to another. For people who are blind or have low vision, trains can be a real lifeline, connecting them to work, family, healthcare and everything else life involves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But stations are built around visual information. Departure boards update constantly, platforms change at short notice, and layouts can be confusing even with perfect vision. For many blind and low-vision travelers, the trains themselves are rarely the problem. Getting through the station is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Staff assistance is valuable and always will be. But many travelers want more than a system where they book help in advance and wait to be collected. They want to arrive at the station and simply get on with their journey, the way everyone else does.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s the gap live visual support fills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"How-it-works\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">How it works<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s simple. Within seconds they&#8217;re on a secure video call with a trained professional visual interpreter, who sees what the phone&#8217;s camera sees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From there, the interpreter can help with things like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reading the departure board and catching track changes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Finding the right platform, entrance or ticket counter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Locating restrooms, food, seating and other amenities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Getting around a station the traveler has never visited before<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There&#8217;s no need to pre-book assistance and there is no waiting around.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"From-16-stations-to-151-in-just-over-a-year\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">From 16 stations to 151 in just over a year<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In August 2025, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemyeyes.com\/business\/news\/be-my-eyes-and-amtrak-partnership\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"3256\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Amtrak and Be My Eyes launched a three-month pilot<\/a> at 16 stations along the Northeast Corridor, including busy hubs like New York, Philadelphia, Boston and Washington, DC. Amtrak set clear criteria for success: usage, rider feedback and operational performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The pilot delivered on all three. By February 2026, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemyeyes.com\/business\/news\/be-my-eyes-and-amtrak-expansion\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"4136\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the service had expanded<\/a> to more than 50 stations nationwide, reaching Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, Seattle and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The latest expansion takes coverage to 151 stations and triples the program&#8217;s reach in a single step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That kind of growth only happens when something really resonates.
