{"id":5068,"date":"2026-08-21T11:01:42","date_gmt":"2026-08-21T11:01:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bemyeyes.com\/business\/?p=5068"},"modified":"2026-08-21T11:53:17","modified_gmt":"2026-08-21T11:53:17","slug":"be-my-eyes-partners-with-natwest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bemyeyes.com\/business\/news\/be-my-eyes-partners-with-natwest\/","title":{"rendered":"NatWest Partners with Be My Eyes to Launch Pilot Project Aiming to Make Banking More Accessible for Blind and Low Vision customers\u202f"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>NatWest is the first UK bank to partner with Be My Eyes\u00a0using Service Directory and\u00a0Service Connect, the world\u2019s largest support platform for blind and low vision people<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The\u202fupcoming\u202fpilot will see a selected group of blind and low vision customers access real-time, secure visual support from trained NatWest colleagues via video calls.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Led\u00a0by NatWest\u2019s Open Innovation team, the free pilot supports the\u202fBank\u2019s\u202fambition to provide an accessible experience for all customers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Friday 21<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0August 2026<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; NatWest has announced\u00a0it will\u00a0work\u00a0with\u00a0global accessibility platform\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemyeyes.com\/bme-app\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Be My Eyes<\/a>\u00a0to use live visual\u00a0assistance\u00a0to help blind or low vision customers manage everyday banking tasks more easily and independently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through&nbsp;a pilot with&nbsp;the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemyeyes.com\/bme-app\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Be My Eyes<\/a>&nbsp;app, a selected group of customers&nbsp;will be able to&nbsp;make secure video calls supported by NatWest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The pilot will see a select group of customers take part in the app by accessing a Service Directory and selecting NatWest.\u00a0Within seconds and via a single tap, users will be placed on a video call with a trained NatWest colleague.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At this point, the customer\u2019s phone camera or smart glasses become the colleague\u2019s eyes, allowing them to guide the customer through the relevant journey in real time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This enables colleagues to provide clear, verbal guidance to help customers complete tasks with greater confidence and independence.\u00a0The pilot\u00a0could\u00a0assist\u00a0a number of\u00a0day-to-day\u00a0banking\u00a0activities\u00a0including\u00a0reading a letter or\u00a0activating a new card.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The service is free and simple to use, with no appointments\u202frequired.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the pilot, NatWest\u2019s Open Innovation team will work in partnership with Be My Eyes to\u202fidentify\u202ffurther opportunities where live visual support could improve the banking experience for blind or\u202flow vision customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Insights from the pilot will help inform the next phase of the programme, including opportunities to make the pilot available to more customers later in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Register your interest in the Pilot<\/strong><br>If you are a NatWest customer and would like to register your interest in participating in the pilot, you can learn more by emailing&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:andy.lane@bemyeyes.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">andy.lane@bemyeyes.com<\/a>.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ENDS<\/strong>\u202f<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Notes to editors<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Innovation at NatWest Group<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Open Innovation team at NatWest Group have a vision to lead the future of banking by aligning the external technology ecosystem with the bank\u2019s strategy, to inspire new products and services for our customers,\u202fcolleagues\u202fand communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NatWest Group has stringent security measures in place to protect its customers. Customers will never be asked to share PINs,\u202fpasswords\u202for security details as part of this support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About Be My Eyes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Be My Eyes started with a simple idea: to make the world more accessible for blind and low-vision people through the power of connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The idea came from Hans J\u00f8rgen Wiberg, a low vision Danish craftsman. While working with The Danish Association of the Blind, Hans noticed how often people needed a little visual\u202fassistance\u202ffor everyday tasks. A friend shared how video calls with family helped him get that assistance, and Hans saw an opportunity: what if blind and low-vision people could connect with a global network of volunteers, ready to lend their sight?\u202f\u00a0<br>\u202f\u202f\u00a0<br>In 2015, the Be My Eyes app was launched and, within 24 hours, 10,000 volunteers had signed up. Today, millions of volunteers support users in over 180 languages\u00a0\u2013\u00a0proving that a little help goes a long way.\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Enterprise partners include Microsoft, Google, Procter &amp; Gamble, Hilton, and Tesco.
