\u2013 <\/strong>Be My Eyes, the Accessibility Management company for people who are blind or have low vision, today announced at the 41st CSUN Assistive Technology Conference, an expansion of its partnership with Meta. The new functionality enables blind or low vision users to connect via hands-free video to trusted contacts such as friends or family members, or directly to service and support teams at leading global brands – through voice commands on AI glasses from Meta, including Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta.<\/p>\n\n\n\nWith this update, users will be able to reach companies across retail, telecommunications, consumer electronics, healthcare, travel, and hospitality, including Tesco, Zain, Sony, Clearblue, Amtrak, and Hilton, hands free from Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta glasses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For global brands, this marks a new chapter in accessible customer experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The announcement builds on BME\u2019s integration of its \u201cCall a Volunteer\u201d capability on AI glasses at Meta Connect in September 2024. Since then the two companies have continued to evolve the wearable experience. Now for the first time, blind and low-vision consumers will be able to connect hands-free to trained service representatives who can see and describe what is in front of the customer and guide them step by step \u2014 whether configuring broadband equipment, navigating a hotel room, troubleshooting a device, or locating products in-store.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Expanding Trusted Connections<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nBe My Eyes users have long been able to create private \u201cGroups\u201d \u2014 curated lists of trusted individuals such as friends, family members, or colleagues. When initiating a group call, the connection is made to the first available member rather than to an anonymous volunteer. This feature is particularly valuable for sensitive conversations, ongoing personal support, or situations requiring specialized expertise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Now, for the first time, this trusted group functionality will be available hands-free on Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta glasses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Direct Access to Service and Support Centers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nIn addition to private groups, Be My Eyes\u2019users will be able to connect directly to participating companies via the Be My Eyes Service Directory using Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta glasses. This includes access to specially trained support representatives who are equipped to provide visual descriptions and assistance if needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For example, in North America, users will be able to connect directly with Hilton representatives for booking assistance or help navigating hotel room layouts. In the UK, users will be able to reach dedicated Tesco service agents for assistance with in-store queries or out of store advice on products and facilities\u2014hands-free with AI glasses from Meta. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
All of this functionality will be available at no cost to the glasses user.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Simple Voice Activation<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\nTo activate the feature, users simply say:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHey Meta, Be My Eyes with [name of group or company].\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nMeta AI will recognize the request, search the user\u2019s private groups or the public Service Directory, and initiate the appropriate connection \u2014 delivering seamless, hands-free access to human support when it\u2019s needed most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A New Era of Accessible Wearables<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\nWhen the Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses were first launched, their strong adoption within the blind and low-vision community highlighted the untapped potential of wearable AI for accessibility. The addition of Be My Eyes\u2019 volunteer service marked a major milestone. This latest expansion further positions Meta AI glasses as a leading wearable platform for accessible, real-time support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
