In 2023, Be My Eyes partnered with Sky to provide accessible visual assistance<\/a> to customers across Ireland who are blind or have low vision. Since then, lots of Be My Eyes users have reached out to Sky to receive visual assistance with a variety of tasks. This is the story of two of them: Stuart and Jackie!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Stuart\u2019s Story<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Stuart lives in Dublin and he is Head of Digital Content for a specialist provider of accessibility technology<\/a> in the UK and Ireland. He is blind since birth, and he has been using Be My Eyes for many years to receive assistance from both volunteers and company representatives. In a recent call with Sky, he successfully set up his new Sky Stream Box with the assistance of a Sky agent through Service Directory<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u200d\u201cIf you haven\u2019t contacted Sky before through the Be My Eyes app or indeed if you haven\u2019t used Service Directory in general, I strongly recommend doing so. The people you are speaking to are aware of the specialized support they need to deliver, so you are going to have people who are trained and who know exactly what our community requires\u201d – <\/em>Stuart, Be My Eyes User from Ireland<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jackie\u2019s Story<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Jackie lost her sight 29 years ago. Since then, technology has come a long way, and she has been using new technologies to enhance her independence. In the past months, she has called Sky through Be My Eyes many times to receive visual specialized assistance with tasks including getting a description of her tv screen, identifying LED colors on her Sky Stream Box and pressing the right buttons on her remote.<\/p>\n

\u200d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe people at Sky are simply amazing and the patience they have is unreal. There\u2019s no frustration, you\u2019re not feeling annoyed. It\u2019s been a game changer for me. I wouldn\u2019t leave Sky because of the service that they are offering.\u201d<\/em> – Jackie, Be My Eyes User from Sligo.<\/p>\n
