As our world becomes increasingly reliant on internet and mobile connection, the role of telecommunications providers in shaping our interconnected world cannot be underestimated. Large parts of our lives are now lived online and now more than ever everyone needs an easy, fully accessible way to live their digital lives.

Access to the internet means being able to connect with the people you love, being able to take advantage of business opportunities and be an active member of society. Belong believes that people who are blind or have low vision should have an equal chance to browse through websites, use apps on their smartphone, and be able to get access to information from the web wherever they are and whenever they want.

This is why we are thrilled to announce that we have officially partnered with Belong, Australia’s first carbon neutral telco! This collaboration marks a significant milestone in our shared mission to create a more inclusive and accessible world for over 575,000 Australians who are blind or have low vision.

If you are blind and live in Australia, you can now use the Be My Eyes app to get in contact with a Belong representative and get real time video assistance with a wide variety of tasks, including:

  • Technical support, help or troubleshooting for any of Belong services, such as issues connecting your device to the internet or assistance with your modem.
  • Answer any tricky telco question and learn more about services and products offered by Belong.
  • Assistance with Belong apps and websites.

Niva Surbevski, Service Recovery, Senior Lead at Belong, said the collaboration marks a significant milestone in Belong’s mission to create a more inclusive and accessible world: “Access to the internet means being able to connect with the people you love, being able to take advantage of business opportunities and be an active member of society. With over half a million Australians affected by vision loss or blindness, this partnership will be a monumental step to better the lives of countless individuals."

Hans Jørgen Wiberg, Founder of Be My Eyes Be My Eyes said “Our partnership with Belong is a further step into a more accessible and inclusive digital experience for thousands of Australians who are blind or have low vision. “We are extremely excited to join forces to create a fully accessible experience for Australians who are blind or have low vision.”
